blogger/ designer featured in garden & gun magazine

I have been following Rachel Halvorson's blog, Nest Egg, for awhile. I love her fresh approach to interiors and her easy nature.  I was excited to see that she was on the cover (!) of Garden & Gun this month named as one of the South's up and coming designers.  I can't believe how much she has accomplished at the age of 26. I am always in awe of people who are able to become successful at a young age, especially in the design field.  If you haven't checked out the magazine, you definitely should!!

favorite find of the week 8.6

This week I met with one of my fabric reps and she presented a beautiful new fabric line just being introduced in the US, de la Couna.  The company, de la Couna, is based in the UK and their fabrics are to die for. Their linens were out of this world.  The fabrics are in a higher price point but for the right client, I wouldn't hesistate to use them!

ottoman update

I have been helping my brother and sister the past week get settled into their new apartment and on the top of our list was reupholstering their living room ottoman.  It was in desperate need of an update! It was my mom's before she gave it to my sister and it had seen better days.  The color scheme we are using in their living room is olive green, turquoise, orange, and cream.  I thought the ottoman would be a great place to introduce a punch of orange.

I think it turned out pretty well considering neither my sister and I have ever done this before!

big girl bedroom

You all have heard me talk about ideas for my daughter's "big girl" room in a couple of posts and I have been putting together an inspiration board for it.  I have already bought the bedding from Land of Nod...I loved the mix of damask and lattice work in the pink and green. Her walls are a soft green now so the bedding will go perfectly. We already have a painted bookcase and dresser. All she needs is a new headboard and accessories!

I have been seeing the ads for the Thom Filicia fabrics at Kravet but have yet to see them in person.  I did a little search on the internet to see what they looked like. Nothing short of fabulous I must say! He definitely didn't disappoint! I want to use them all!!
