happy nate berkus day!

The girls over at Moggit have declared today Nate Berkus Day! They want all the design bloggers out there to post something about the designer/ new talk show host...here's my post for the day!

I love seeing Nate on Oprah and reading his articles in O magazine...he makes great design and decorating seem attainable for everyone. He always has great tips for bringing his style to your home. Here are some of my faves...

1) Always have fresh-cut flowers in your house. They don't cost a fortune and can instantly change the look in a room.

2) "If you touch it everyday, it should be beautiful"...from your kitchen cabinet knobs to your toothbrush holder, you should infuse style into your everyday items.

3) Edit your rooms. It is so tempting to display everything you have ever purchased or collected but a room looks much more put together if there is some order and thought to your display.  Put everything out and then take a step back and decide what really needs to stay and what could be put away.

Happy Nate Berkus Day!!

twisted traditional

In the June issue of Southern Living, there was an article about a young couple who moved from New York City to North Carolina that really caught my eye.  The wife is an interior designer and her home can attest to that.  I loved how she took traditional elements and put her own twist on them with unexpected color combos and modern prints.

you spin me right round

Check out this fabulous chandelier from Ironware International

It's called "Cassiopeia" and I can imagine it hung low over a foyer center table or breakfast table.  It just so happens Ironware International is being featured in One Kings Lane for the next few days...pop over and see what other great products they have!!

romo-licious

I met with my local Romo rep last week and got to see their new collection. I always love seeing Romo's fabrics because they never disappoint.  I love their patterns, colors, and textures.  This collection was as great as their last.

I love the fuschia against the grey background.  These came in some other colorways with aqua and coral too...I wanted them all!!

I love a great muted fabric too and Romo had some great wools...unfortunately with the Florida heat, I do not see any of these in my future. Maybe if it came in a linen or cotton...

I can never get enough of textured fabric. Romo is a great source...TONS of great textures and all for a great price point!

love it

I am loving this room by James Michael Howard featured in the June issue of House Beautiful. The simplicity of it along with the punches of color with the turquoise wall (my scanner made the wall appear blue...sorry) and the bright accents of purple. Beautiful!!!!
