color combo- yellow + gray

I was thumbing through the new West Elm catalog last weekend and this duvet stuck out to me.  I thought it would be beautiful in a room paired with gray and white.

West Elm painted their walls a taupe-y gray, which accents the yellow perfectly and I love the bright white on the headboard and moulding.

Here's some more yellow + gray rooms that caught my eye-

an organized kid's room

Is it possible?? I am struggling with how to get my daughter's room organized! The books, toys, and baby dolls have taken over! Does any one have any tips for me??

designer crush

I love, love, love the work of the design firm, Massucco Warner Miller.  These ladies are amazing! They are an interior design triple threat!! I think their work is fresh but, at the same time, maintains a level of classic chic to it.

Here are some of my favorite rooms...

My absolute fave (it's my inspiration room for my daughter's "big girl" bedroom)--

favorite find of the week 7.23

My favorite find of the week is more of a discovery of things I thought I lost...my old Domino issues!! I thought I had thrown them out a couple of years ago ( I know...STUPID move!!) but I had just relocated them to my office for "safe keeping". I was cleaning things up in the storage room and there they were!! All in a neat stack waiting for me to rediscover them!! I know Brides.com is bringing the archives back but there is something about having your favorite magazines in print.  I know what I will be doing this weekend...reading all my old issues and discovering old & new inspirations!

jonathan adler party recap

Ok, finally as promised!!! I had such a great time at the Jonathan Adler party in Atlanta. You ATL girls know how to throw a party!! Pieces Inc. was a beautiful store and the owner, Lee Kleinhelter, was as nice as I expected.  She is a petite thing but boy, is she big on style!  Jonathan Adler was so nice, taking time to talk to everyone.  To my delight, I got a chance to meet Erika from BluLabel Bungalow too! She was so nice and I am bummed I didn't get to talk to her longer. I am sad I missed some other Atlanta bloggers too! I am already planning my next trip to Atlanta so I can meet all you ladies!!

Here's some photos I took from the fabulous evening...

an ode to imperial trellis

I am back from vacation and it's back to the daily grind...blogging, working, and getting back to normal.  While I take a day to catch up, here's an ode to a designer fave, Kelly Wearstler's "Imperial Trellis" by Schumacher.  I can not get enough of this print!!

I promise I will be all caught up by tomorrow night and I will post pics from the Jonathan Adler party at Pieces last week!!

favorite find of the week 7.16

Here's my favorite find for this week...a very new furniture company called Gabby.  They are a division of the outdoor furniture makers, Summer Classics.  The furniture has a casual appeal to it and I love that they reuse a lot of materials such as recycled wood, burlap, antique mirrors, and rusted metal.

family vacation (with a little jonathan adler thrown in)

My family and I are on our way to Blairsville, GA to visit my husband's family but we are making a little pit stop in Atlanta for a couple of days.  Imagine how excited I was when I found out that the same night I will be in Atlanta, Mr. Jonathan Adler will be at a party hosted by Pieces Inc. in Atlanta.  I RSVP'd to go immediately...who passes this by?!?

In honor of this little soiree I will be attending tonight, here are some classic JA interiors...

Can't wait to share all the details from the party when I get back from vacation next week!!!

dining room update #2- postponed

I was going to post photos of my fabric choices for my dining room table runner but after looking at them last night, I decided I wasn't crazy about either one! So, I am delaying that project until I find something I am bananas over.  I think I am going to have to convince my husband to repaint the lower wall (under the chair rail) and maybe get a new rug.  Don't you love how projects that start off as easy and won't require any paint or new purchases turn into a whole other thing?

On another note, here's a picture of my daughter's new bathroom. I got totally sidetracked in Home Goods and ended up coming home with stuff for her.  It is much more colorful than what was in the bathroom but I thought it was appropriate for a two year old girl with a BIG personality :)

in memory

I just got on blogger to write today's post when I saw that a fellow blogger, wonderful designer, mother, and wife, Marija from Holding Court, passed away in a car accident this past weekend.  It just seems silly to post about something like dining room fabric once you hear this news.

My thoughts and prayers are with her family.  It is such a tragic thing when someone so young and full of life leaves this world much too early.  I will definitely hold my daughter a little tighter today...that's the thing with life, it's much too precious and short to live your days without letting everyone you know how much you love them.

dining room update #1

In my effort to "refresh" my dining room, I enlisted the help of my mom who was down visiting in reupholstering my four dining chairs. I upholstered over the original fabric that came with the chair.  I used a natural colored linen/cotton fabric...it wasn't a bold choice but I wanted everything to remain neutral so if I decide to change the rug, I won't have to change the chairs (and the fabric was free since I had a ton of it left over from a job).  I went on a search for something for on top of my table but I got totally sidetracked in Home Goods! Ended up buying all new stuff for my daughter's bathroom!!  I have a few fabric choices for the runner I want to make...stay tuned tomorrow to help me choose!!
